Hello and welcome to Ingrandes, France. There, 220 expert bootmakers execute and supervise every stage of the process, molding the rubber and bringing each boot to life by hand. Their craft has only progressed since 1853, and the legend lives on as we look to the future.

In keeping with their efforts to sustainable and ethical fashion, Aigle owns the only natural rubber boot production facility in France. These boots honor individuals who wear them as well as those who produce them. They are guaranteed to be of French origin.
MANUAL SKILLS ONE BOOT, 60 STEPS...
And a thorough inspection procedure. They guarantee precise sealing and faultless production. Their boots will stay with you for years after you put them on. There is nothing left to chance. It takes two years to become a master bootmaker, and the skills have stayed virtually constant for 170 years.
ALREADY TESTED, APPROVED IMMEDIATELY
Each pair of boots is put through the most rigorous waterproofing testing to ensure that you stay dry, whether you're caught in the rain, jumping in a puddle, or have both feet deep in water. Before leaving our plant, each pair goes through a comprehensive certification procedure.
VULCANIZATION WAS THE FIRST STEP
Rubber had already been invented by Hiram Hutchinson, but it had little resilience to high heat. Hutchinson used vulcanization to make rubber more resistant to temperature fluctuations. He heated the material in a pressured environment, making it less brittle in low temperatures and less sticky in heat. From 1842, the method was employed to produce rubber more elastic and waterproof, revolutionizing production and driving Hiram Hutchinso, an American entrepreneur, to start Aigle.
VULCANIZATION IS A KEY STEP IN A HISTORIC PATENT
Latex has been used in South America to make certain ordinary goods practically entirely waterproof since the 15th century. The vulcanization technique allows us to modify rubber such that it can resist temperature fluctuations without cracking.
