In 1548, Spanish explorers discover Tanegashima Island, in Kyushu Province, Japan. These traders were the first to introduce modern-style weapons to Japan. These first imports coincided with the civil war on the mainland, at a time when feudal lords were struggling to control the vast lands on the island. The clan leaders of the time were in dire need of modern equipment for their samurai warriors who were plowing the country. 

In the last half of the 19th century, the Mito clan was the first clan to settle in an area northeast of Tokyo. In a small gun repair workshop owned by the clan, Shigyo Sakaba worked as an amateur gunsmith. In 1855, at the age of 20, he was appointed by the Mito chief as a production and design manager. 

This factory soon became known for the craftsmanship, impeccable quality and durability of its weapons. Shigyo Sakaba is also considered the founder of the SKB (SaKaBa) Arms Company. Nowadays SKB (www.skbshotguns.com) has managed to combine new technologies with craftsmanship to produce a complete line of high quality weapons. 

SKB was founded on the basis of tradition. It manufactures weapons of high quality and great durability. It is not one of the companies that follows the dramatic changes in fashion but one of those that rely more on technique and reliability.

The standard production line includes the 505S, 605S, 705S and 805S models for hunting and shooting, with 12 Cal. calibers and different barrel lengths. 

SKB adheres to the highest standards of quality control and is constantly designing new products to meet the needs of the shooting and hunting market worldwide. 

All guns are available with 5 chokes manufactured by Briley. They are suitable for use with steel and lead shotguns and their barrels are the only ones tested to 1850 pressures. The small gun production guarantees the highest standards of quality control while allowing it to design and develop its new models.
